KYKC 100.1 FM Wins 2002 OAB Award
Jan. 28, 2003

Ada— KYKC 100.1 FM radio station is winner of the 2002 Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters (OAB) Non-Metro Community Service Award for The Pat Taylor Memorial Christmas Parade. KYKC 100.1 FM is located at 121 S. Constant Street, plays continuous hit country music 24-7, with on-air radio personalities, news, weather and sports.

“While the station will be accepting this award, it must be shared with a whole lot of people from the community that worked tirelessly in bringing all the elements together to make the Pat Taylor Memorial Christmas Parade a success,” said Mike Hall, station manager.

One special parade guest included 17-year-old Yvonne Badillo of Oklahoma City who rode in the parade as Miss Teen Ambassador 2003. Badillo had recently won her title in September with the Pat Taylor Christmas Parade being her first parade of the year.

The Pat Taylor Memorial Christmas Parade is one of seven community service projects in the non-metro category winning awards statewide. KYKC will receive the community service project award 2002 by OAB on March 29th at the Annual Congressional Luncheon in Tulsa.

While the parade was organized by KYKC, its namesake Patricia “Pat” Taylor was the person remembered during the 2002 Christmas season. Taylor was remembered by Ada residents and the business community for her Christmas and collectibles store, The Curiosity Shop, located on Main Street and the memorable Christmas displays she and the Taylor family constructed at their home in Deer Creek Estates each Christmas season.
