Everyone had a great time enjoying the atmosphere, and the 2008 Colgate Country Showdown winner that day was Karissa Davis. Congratulations! Karissa will be going to the state competition from here.
The Colgate Country Showdown is a year-long, national program with more than 55,000 participants in more than 600 local, state, regional and national shows. The Showdown continues our tradition of supporting live country music while offering aspiring talent in small towns across the country, a way to make their big dreams come true. Annually, more than 450 country radio stations sponsor hometown contests to jumpstart this year-long talent search. Winners of the local competitions advance to the state contest where prizes include $1,000 and the opportunity to compete in one of five regional events. The five regional winners receive an all-expense-paid-trip to the National Final to compete for $100,000 and the coveted national title of Best New Act in Country Music. The 2006 National Final with Grammy Award™ winning host LeAnn Rimes has been airing nationwide over syndicated television since March. The show will air on Great American Country (GAC) on Sunday, April 29 – 8:00/9:30 p.m., 12:00/1:30 a.m., and Monday, April 30 from 4:00/5:30 p.m. For more information on the Colgate Country Showdown and how to enter, go to http://www.colgatecountryshowdown.com/
